    Fuse #10

    Here's a mystery. . .

Fuse #10 blows when I put my car in Reverse. . .

I thought it was one of the Reverse lights but they seem ok. . . .

Any ideas or suggestions of where to start troubleshooting?

Look in your owners manual and see what fuse 10 is.

      Fuse 10 controls the ff:

      Seat belt warning system
      Service interval indicator
      Tachometer/fuel economy gauge
      Instrument gauges and indicators
      Brake warning system
      Back-up lights
      OBC
      Starter
      Fuel delivery
      Idle speed
      Active check control
      Stop lights and cruise control

In most cases where your fuse burns out as soon as you select reverse, chances are your wire is frayes and rubbing against the body somewhere causing the short. Take both your shift boots out and inspect the reverse light wires.

          Probably because these:

          Seat belt warning system
          Service interval indicator
          Tachometer/fuel economy gauge
          Instrument gauges and indicators
          Brake warning system
          Back-up lights
          OBC
          Starter
          Fuel delivery
          Idle speed
          Active check control
          Stop lights and cruise control

          either aren't working or malfunctioning.

I think i had this problem before. What i did was disconnect that safety warning seat belt plug under the driver seat and it fixed the problem. My shit would blow fuse #10 everytime i start the car.

If its blowing when you put the car in reverse there is a short in the wiring that goes from the upper console, through the rubber shift boot, and down the the reverse switch on the tranny. this is quite common. the clip that holds them up fails, and they dangle and get chewed up on the shifter linkage/driveshaft.

              replace wiring as needed.

                Thanks alot guys. . .

                I found the problem.

One of the reverse light wires frayed out from rubbing against the metal shift console.

                Repaired and heat shrink tubing x 2. . .

                Thanks!!
