HVAC Panel, temp dial + sliders disconnected

I got my '90 325 with cables disconnected from the Temp rotary dial and all 3 sliders. Anyone have any suggestions which cable goes to which and any easier ways to put them back?

I looked at the Bentley manual and it doesn't say too much about it. If anything it confused me a little more.

Sounds like a real PITA. I would do the "guess and check" method very carefully.
