anyone have a pic of the sides of an m20 block?

theres a guy making custom motor mounts for dropping the m20 into an 02. now i know i used the aluminum e36 motor mount arms on my s52e30. i dont have a spare m20 laying around right now to compare but my question is,,, are the bolt holes embossed on the block of the s50 the same as the m20?
i was wondering if those custom m20 mounts for the 02 could be used with the s50 block and drop one in an 02??
does anyone have a pic of the holes in the m20 block so i can compare?? my guess is they are different and thats why i needed to use the e36 arms.

In my old car with an M50, it had the steel brackets on both sides. They do bolt do the block just fine. HOWEVER, they are setup for different heights. When switching to the aluminum M5X mounts the engine sat about 1/2 inch heigher (IIRC, this was about 3 years ago).

That said, I believe you would have to cut into the front clip/radiator support to fit an S50. If done correctly I do not think there would be a problem. I think putting an alum block M52 into a Duece might be a cool/decent distribution project. :)

It's not the height, its the angle the motor sits at that's different, it's rotated more toward vertical to make space for the wider head, so it seems to be up higher.

Ok. I gotta jump in here. I just recently realized that the M20 and M50/S50 blocks are the same outside. I'm actually attempting to drop an S50 into my 2002, so I'm very interested in the M20 mount idea. There's going to be a lot of custom fabrication down there anyway, but much more if I have to stick with the E36 big chunky mounts.

Sorry, I didn't quite understand what was said above. So, if I used the M20 mounts, my engine would sit more horizontal and most likely be too wide for the engine bay? Any other issues?

I don't know about 2002 fitment specifically, but yes, an M20 mounting setup would postition the engine more toward horizontal laying flat on the exhaust side. I don't remember the exact number, but it's something like 10*-20* off. They did this because the twin cam head is much wider and heavier, they wanted to move the weight over a bit and gain clearance for exhaust manifolds and whatnot.
