    blower motor

Anyone know how to get to the blower motor and swap it? It's for an 87 325is.

& don't just say "it's easy"; post something useful.

There is a panel dead center on the firewall. There are 4 small metal screws that hold it onto the fire wall. First take loose the wiring harness holder by removing the two plastic nuts. Pull it out of the way as much as possible. Next on the drivers side of the panel is another wiring harness holder which holds a connector. This holder just pops open to release the connector. once you have removed those then remove the 4 small screw/bolts, pull the piece of weather strip off the top of the panel and it should fall off, if not gently pull it free. Once that panel is removed you will see two whiteish plastic straps. You need to pull them apart (pretty simple to figure out). After you release the straps you will be able to pull the blower motor cover off, keep in mind what it looks like for reinstallation. You should now see the blower motor. Pop the metal strap free from the motor by using a flat tip screwdriver on the bottom. The blower motor should be free at this point. Be very gentle with the motor because the fans are very fragile and brittle. Carefully pull the motor free and then remove the two wires. Having a friend hold the wiring harness away and anything else that gets in your way really helps during removal and installation. Carefully manipulate the motor out of the cavity being extremely careful not to damage the fans.
    INSTALLATION:
Installation is the reverse of removal except the metal strap that secures the motor is a beast to get back in. Have patience with it. I ended up using a long punch with the point in the small hole at the base of the strap. Another Item is to be sure to install the new motor with the fins of the fans pointing the same direction as the fan you pulled out. I dont think you can truly install it backwards but pulling it out and putting it in again creates a hazard for the fans.
    Good luck with the install.

That metal retention clip is easy to attach too far back. If you can't get it to fit, you might have it clipped on wrong. Remove it and try again, slightly further forward.

On mine I repositioned that strap at least 6 times and to no avail. Mine was just a beast. Everything else was a breeze.

Yeah, follow that thread/or the many write-ups that are online about it.
It really isn't that hard to get to the blower motor, or the blower motor resistor, and to pop it out. ;) Give it a shot!
