    transmission problems?

the other day I was driving at about 45mph, I heard a small click sound and then my car would not drive. just revving as if I was in neutral.
I figured diff problems, and just replaced that.

Unfortunately its something else... engine runs great, diff is in great shape. but when I put it in gear (auto tranny) I get nothing at all, driveshaft does not even spin. it just revs that is all.
when I shut the car off as everything slows to a stop theres a kind of whirring, gear-ish sound.

If I have to swap the tranny out, im just putting another auto in as im flat broke with zero income.
Anyone know a good, cheap place for transmission swapping in socal?

obviously i know that. ive done everything else but i dont know shit about removing a tranny... would rather have someone experienced do it.

mainly my question is does anyone know what the problem could be? possibly fixable without removing tranny? I know the trans was rebuilt around 60k miles ago(200kish). If i can do it myself i will, but if not i need a good shop thats not expenisve if anyone knows of one....

this is my DD, dont have time to fuck around with it.

Edit: or maybe someone local would be willing to give me a hand if i get another trans? someone whos done it before, and I'd pay you reasonably...

Sounds like the tranny is toast dude. Not worth wasting your time, just replace it.

agreed, after looking at swap info it looks like something I could do, even with my limited hand tools... now I just need to save some money and find all the parts for a manual swap. no point spending that time and effort to stay auto...

its just kind of weird to me as the trans shifted great, and felt great...

Take it apart first, you could have snapped the center out of your flex plate

flexplate? what would one of those run price wise? would that be something I'd replace if I went ahead with the swap? I'd hate to drop a trans, only to keep the same (auto) one, so i'm kinda leaning towards the swap.

sweet. I'm kind of scrambling for cash now, not sure how long it'll take me but I kinda have to do this soon.
I'll probably want the clutch and flywheel from you, and the g260, just got to see where im at
