big oil leak..did search...need personal help *pics added*
wait, oil temp sensor? Is that in the oil filter housing too or is that another thing? should I replace both? can someone give me some links of writeups and what not?
thanks
I think he probably means either the oil pressure sender (side of block)or the level sender (in the top of the oil pan).
Unless you have an aftermarket gauge, these cars don't have a temp sender.
It could also be the oil pressure sending unit is bad. They sometimes fail and start to leak pretty bad. There might be a seal on the oil level sensor that could leak but I'm not sure.
Cleaning the engine is a good idea anytime you are going to work on it. Don't be too worried about getting water on stuff. The engine compartment is open underneath and water gets on stuff all the time. As long as you don't spray directly on the distributor, coil and plugs and any other obviously electrical stuff, ,you should be fine.
where is the oil pressure sending unit? is there a way I can just replace all this stuff in one day? I may as well just replace it all and get it all taken care of while I'm in there. :)
