    Injector upgrade: which injectors??

I know that many have chosen to upgrade to Mustang 19# (Bosch Type IIs I think) but I heard it said that the E36 M3 injectors were a better choice, and perhaps cheaper.

Some of you guys with some expertise in this area give me some feedback. I want to upgrade for sure, but which injectors to go with is the question...and why??

    Thanks

personally i think 19lb-ers are the right choice (and i picked up mine for $30, good luck finding e36m3 injectors cheaper than that), but here:

    past:
    1989 325is (learner shitbox)
    1986 325e (turbo dorito)
    1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)
    1985 323i baur
    current:
    1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)

You want 17.5lb M50/S50 injectors. Note the M50 part, these things are everywhere and cheap. I personally paid $40 for a set of S50 pieces with 40k on them and looked brand new.

You want these because they are ALL 4-pintle (very important) and a stock internalled M20 does not need any more than the 17.5 units provide.

how complicated is the install for bigger injectors? is it direct install or is there tweaking you have to do???

Yeah they're fine, nothing wrong with them at all. It's just easier to find the 17.5 ones being in the BMW community and you know they are all the proper Design II ones (the older Fords aren't).

Easy to install, just tedious. There isn't much space to work with, and dropped things may take a while to find. The ECU adapts to the new sprayers, no other modification necessary.

You should note that a stock M20 really doesn't need these, and wouldn't do much if anything (the only gains are if the stock ones aren't working 100% anymore). I installed them because my car couldn't get enough fuel at higher RPM with the mods. There is no point guessing if you need them or throwing mods at engines that you don't know you need or even give you gains (read: the entire aftermarket world does this crap). Get on a dyno and see if you need them.

19 lb injectors are the perfect upgrade to go along with a M30 AFM, no questions asked

I have a Mark D 93 chip, am converting to an M30 AFM, and though I have yet to confirm this, I supposedly have an extrude honed intake manifold. I will also be running Supersprint headers in the not too distant future as well as an AFPR (though there is some question as to this particular mods' gains). I also have the old K&N hot air intake system. So all in all, I hope that the injectors will be a worthwhile addition to the package.

meh, what do you know......but intraw3b gossip.

I'm with Jay now on the 4pintle 17.5# talk. If I gave too much of a damn, I'd swap.....but I don't think that is happening.
and for that matter, if you find cheap mustang injectors, go for them....who cares?!?

However, there are three reasons I'd recommend upgrading injectors:
                  1) M30 AFM
                  2) Mark D 93 Octane Chip
                  3) clicking stock injectors (might as well do the cheap upgrade yo)
