    Remote start button?

When I worked for Schneller I used a remote starter button that jumped the two pins in the starter to "flash" crank the engine. Perfect for speeding up the endless task of adjusting the valves.

Where can I find one? Bav sells the factory one for 90 bucks. I'm just looking for one with alligator clips on the ends of the wires. Could be completely generic, just can't find anything...thanks guys.

90 bucks? go to radio shack, buy a momentary contact switch and solder up some lengths of wire to it.

Not sure if just a plain ol' RS switch would handle the amps...have to check into that I guess. I thought about that though.

Bav's plugs into the diagnostics port. Hence the price tag. :)

Jump pins 11 and 15 in the Diagnostic connector does the same thing and you don't have to reach down by the starter. Just buy two pins at the dealer that fit the plug, solder some wire and a switch up. Can come in handy for doing vavles, checking for spark from the engine bay,and other things.

Yea, I had one on my car when my ignition tumbler broke. Would go to on, but not to start. It was like 12 bucks. I've got pushbutton on my 49 chevy too. I didnt know you could jump those two posts on the plug. Is that just motronic 1.1 and greater? or can I do it on the eta too?

Sounds like a nice alternative, any ON's for the pins? Or can I just use something else?

Maybe a DQ, but why? I never did this on the valve adjustments I've done before...

Listen, pal, you and I are gonna take this to F1. :) I don't have the vast garage space for rolling the thing forward, as you can see in the pics of my garage. And I don't want to have to try and go back and forth between the crank and watching the cam to see where it is. Kind of a pain in the ass ;)

You'er making me do Hartge instead of Mtech1. Die.

Poor Scotty... his arms are so short he cant reach the wrench on the crank while looking at the cam...

It only took you how many years to get a friggin Mtech 1 kit? Damn man, I've barely had my car a year and was ready to buy one.

That's ok, Mtech 1 is playyyyed out like alpinas. Same with dscwarz. I'm goin Hartge. Go ahead and find me a Hartge kitted E30 in the US. Bet that'll be HAHD.

I do have freakishly small hands and arms. What can I say :)

This doesn't matter, as the engine won't start without the ignition switch on anyways.
