I called a local tire place to get my alignment done and the guy told me he couldnt do it and i would have to take it to the dealer to get it done. Is this true?

No man, that guy is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles. Problem is, some people tend to think because it's a "BMW" it's a whole different process. It really isnt.
I've been quoted $250 by a shop to align my car. Then I asked some friends and got it done at a nice alignment specialized shop for $40.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

Wrong wrong and wrong!
BMW asks that 650lbs of weight be in their vehicals ontop of a full tank of gas [ask my how i know] Now, you dont NEED to take it to a BMW shop, but by no means are they waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, just covering their asses so that if and when your tires wear out that you dont go back and say 'Wait a minute, you aligned my car and these 40k tire wore out in 15k!"
Only adjustment on e30 is the toe, from factory, anyway. So they can align it, but i would suggest a full tank of gas and prepare to see a print out full of red as most of the rear ends of these things are WAY out of wack.
