Tachometer & MPG gauge/Head unit issue

So I have a kind of an odd issue. I was removing back seat tar early today and then when I was finished I started the car to get ready to go. I realized the tachometer wasnt working and neither was the MPG. My stereo also wouldnt turn on and neither do the dome lights. I remember I removed the back tail light housing to see what bulbs I need to buy also but I dont see that causing this issue.

I researched it a little and I saw people mentioning batteries on the tach go bad. I'm a little hesitant that this is it because
    1. My tach has been working PERFECTLY normal the whole time I have owned the car.
    2. The need moves to idle RPM and stays and the mpg gauge kind of flickers.

I'm nervous I may have messed up a wire running under the back seat, but I looked at them and I don't see anything to crazy except one wire is i little exposed. I'll have to take a closer look.

I haven't tampered with the issue yet, but before I do is there any ideas?

I would really appreciate the help !
    thanks
    -Craig

Sometimes the easiest solution is the best... have you checked your fuses?

Hey man! How are things going?
Who did the repair on the rear fender on my car?
      its terrible!!!

That was one of the first thing I was going to do tomorrow.
I was going to check the fuse and pull the positive off the battery and see if that helps.

Did you have the battery disconnected when you were working in the trunk? If so that might have been all it took to push failing SI board batteries over the edge. There's nothing else in the trunk that would affect the tach. If you damaged the fusible link, the engine wouldn't start.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Its cool! just a bad job It works though haha.
Yeah it's been driving well. only issue is i have to put oil in it occasionally, probably various bad gaskets or something and it makes a noise that might be the water pump bearing going bad or a belt. Still r3vs to 6500 though, nice and smooth!

ill probably just keep the thing forever
Youre intention was to put the motor in your 318 right?
