What are the red/green lights on the cluster for?

I was just driving around a while ago and the green lights at the bottom of my cluster seemed to light up. Any idea what this is for?

    Thanks.

these lights tell you where you are in the service interval. when they are green you are good when it goes yellow you need oil service, red means inspection. But these lights should only come on when first starting the car and go out immediately after. if they are flashing or staying on after driving it means your SI board batteries are beginning to fail. They would eventually need replacing; otherwise these lights may stay on and tach and fuel meter may also stop functioning.

what? my service indicator lights stay on red all the time...even when driving? ive had my car for years and they've been like that. no problems with my cluster at all, besides the typical broken odo.

well i know thats what it needs, but i dont care. i was questioning the fact if they stay on the cluster is fubard or on its way out, as mine has been like that forever with no problems.

Just curious, but any particular reason why you haven't reset yet? That would irritate me to no end.

Well, mine's been like that forever till I got it reset. Since then, 2 green lights are on now opposed to there only being 1 when reset.
