trying to remove shift linkage

and im at the part where you move the white nylon cup 90 degrees but the thing wont move at all!! I keep pressing it in with a screwdriver and it wont move, any ideas?

wow am i an idiot, i got it out, the rod and lever were connected that was my problem.

now i got it all figured out, but to put in a new bushing does the driveshaft and exhaust have to be removed to lower the tranmission?
