    Convertible top lid won't close!

So I recently purchased a 1989 325i convertible, but I can't seem to get the top to fold all the way open. When I unlatch the top and open up the compartment for it and fold the top down into it, the cloth part of the top seems to sit on top of the rear seats and not go all the way into the compartment. Any help?

So I grab the part that juts forward and push it towards the back of the car?

theres a little bar on the top frame that flips back when its folded up, that bare plus the top form a little loop that needs to be tucked into the compartment.

This is the single most time consuming step to putting the top down by yourself, cause you have to tuck one side run to the other side tuck the other side and shut both sides of the compartment.
