Would a thermo go bad so fast?

I thought head gasket leaks could be easily detected via milky oil.

I am running some of that dye stuff threw my car and then examining it under a UV light to see where the coolant is comming from.

If by the end of all this its my head.
    Bye Bye e30.

    Sold it.

I'm having the same problem starting, It'll trun over then rev up to 2k then just die, or it will go to 200 rpm and chug its way slowly to idle.

same issues here, starts easily in the morning, after driving it a few hours or so, when its time to start it up again, i have to step on the gas pedal, cranks for about 5 sec before it starts
