Turn ratios; the meaning?

Hey guys,

I am new to the board. I want to discuss the e36 steering rack swaps. I have an 1989 325i. I have had the rack replaced and it is working great. If you swap to a newer rack with the same turn to lock ratio, will it still have any advantage in smoothness? I recently drove a members swapped e30-e36 rack and it felt great. How would the m3 racks turn compared to the e36. any help or post to sticky would be cool.

Kinda depends on your goals, y'know? Being an old guy (all of 47 makes me old here) my goals are ease of parking and nice comfortable straight line driving, but still with the quickness required for 90MPH mountain drives...my goal is a '95 E36M3 rack.
