Car decided to start running rich out of the blue

I did a trans swap yesterday, and the car ran fine right after. I drove the car to work this morning (about 30 miles), then ALMOST all the way home. I got on the freeway exit ramp, and the car stalled...fired right back up, but it would not idle. It sputtered and missed after that. I limped the car home, changed the plugs, checked for vaccum and intake leaks, checked the 02 sensor..everything looked ok. Is there something I am missing?

Have a look at your AFM.

Double check your Coolant Temp Sensor and the wiring in the connector to it.....

The resistor track wears over time. It gets grooves in it from the wiper arm. You can adjust the arm so it contacts "new" material on the track though. The vane can also get gummed up with crud. Spray carb cleaner in it and make sure it opens and closes smoothly.

Good call on the AFM, the shutter/door whatever its called, was stuck open. How do you adjust them? I dont see any adjusting screws or anything on it.

You have to open the plastic cover. There is a wiper arm and a resistor track. At the picot for the arm there is a 7mm hex bolt. Loosen this. You can then either push the arm down the shaft or pull it higher. If you push it down, the end of the arm will place itself on new material on the track. If you pull the arm up, you will have to bend the arm slightly to put the end on the new material.

Once you pull the cover you will see what I'm talking about.

All you need to know is on this page under "Refurbishing your AFM".
