some questions you can help me with...

ok so recently i bought my e30 and im a little bit compulsive when it comes to maintenance. So, i already replaced every fuse in the fusebox but i dont know where i can find the relays so i can buy them new too. If anyone knows a place or a site that i can get them from that would be great.

    after

other thing is, the "Check" panel is lighting up the "Brake Lights" red dot. I checked the fuse, and the bulb and theyre fine. Is there like a relay switch behind the brake pedal that triggers the brake lights? I had a similar problem with my ex-car (99 beetle) and THAT was the problem. So also, i need help in order to fix this if anyone can help me.

i bought it with the manual sun roof stalk broken. I need to buy the whole stalk again, right?

and last but not least, my rev and gas mileage part of the cluster stopped working. they told me it was a fuse/relay but im not buying it... anyone knows what it could be? SI board battery? Relay?

thanks people, hope you can help me out here...

the check brake light comes on when you start the car, it goes off when you press the brake pedal, or if it stays on hold the reset switch up on the warning lights.
my tach and mpg gauge has a mind of its own, always works over 5k though. some one told me to hit the dash, yeah HIT it. it helps sometimes. if you REALLy car then replace the battery, if it doesn't fix it, then change SI board.

hope i helped a bit, i'm sure someone else will be in to answer the other stuff.

Relays: junk yards or from other members. Don't fix it if it ain't broke; relays aren't a preventative maintenance item.

Check Panel: I have this issue too. Make sure all the bulbs are correct, even a difference in bases can set that light off I hear. Also a part located in the trunk, a light control relay/unit can be faulty. Clean contacts. Just can be many things. There is no one solution. I've tried different check panels to no avail.

Sunrof crank: junkyard or a member here surely has one.

Cluster: search forums. There is a rebuild DIY. Most likely gears or a sender unit was unplugged or injured somewhere.

Some of these parts can be had new but you'll pay for it. A switch I wanted, goes for about $5 each on the forum was $90 new through a parts website. When you realize they are 20 year old cars, a gently used bit isn't so bad.

      Welcome.

Thank you so far for the replies. Well, the brake light in the check panel do goes off after awhile, but im still out of brake lights. Not even the third brake light is lighting up. I checked and double checked the bulbs and theyre "ok". As for the relays, the horn relay is a bit faulty. When i move it, the horn sounds (im thinking maybe its broke). You can see its the only white relay in te board and it looks beat up. Thats why i want to replace everything beause im too compulsive when it comes to electrical stuff.(past experiences). And ill check on the SI board battery to see if thats my problem. I bought the car in pretty good shape. Thats why i want to keep it like that for the next couple of years.

Thanks! I hope to learn a lot here.

Its not dead bro, today we plugged the car to the scanner and reseted the board and everything worked. Rpms and mpg. After a while (like 2hrs) both stopped working again :/ . tomorrow ill check it again.

My only concern now is the stop lights ... The fuses are fine

Check your brake switch if none of your brake lights are working. I worked for autozone for a while and people would come in saying all their fuses and bulbs are fine but the brake lights still wouldnt go on, I would sell them the brake switch and **Done** Im not saying THIS IS THE PROBLEM im just suggesting the idea that it could be.

Pmed you a lil info and a pic of how it looks. From what I remember it should be right under the brake pedal.

The brake light switch is always in front of the brake pedal arm. Any by that I mean that the switch is between the pedal and the seat.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
