Did you have any trouble getting the front timing case cover to fit?

You are supposed to leave the timing case attached to the head, Measure the head thickness very accuratley with some digital calipers and take the case in and have them machine it to that thickness.

yeah i had that problem, i didn't get the cover machined tho... mine wasn't that warped so i was able to still get it on.

I can only get mine to sit flush on one side. It's really weird.

thats odd, you mean the head to sit level or the plate to sit level. i have an extra timing change cover plate if yours is screwd up?
