e30 Fuel Injector Wiring Help

Alright this car is wearing me thin. Hopefully one of you guys can help me out i need to know which wire plugs into what injector. I bought the car with the top stripped down, so i went and checked the head and got it cleaned and then started changing out all the wearable parts. Well now i am to the injectors and the little yellow tape is gone off of 5 of them so i know what plug goes to cylinder 5 otherwise im at a loss. I have the bently and i did not see anywhere in there a list for what goes to what. I also searched and searched and didn't find anything about the wiring though a lot of you have changed the injectors hopefully there is a way to tell. Thank you all in advance.

I had to do almost the same thing. Check the wire colors in the ETM.

At least for an '87 is, injectors 1/3/5 have a brown/white wire and 2/4/6 have a Brown/Yellow wire (the other wire should be Red/white for all 6)


To add something useful to this, once you figure out which injectors are which, Take a paint pen or colored zip-tie (very small one) or something similar and mark each of the connectors on one of the banks (injector 1, 3 and 5). That way, you have a very quick visual next time you have to unplug the injectors.

I have an 87 vert, so does it not matter what injector wire goes where just the evens and odds?

From what I've gathered on the forums here and in the books, all of the M20s are batch fire, so each bank (1/3/5 and 2/4/6) squirt fuel all at the same time.

So yes, actual location doesn't matter, just even/odd. Although, wire length pretty much forces which connector goes onto each injector. Wire length for 3 and 4 are MUCH shorter than 1 and 6.
