I would recommend Propane. Get a long hose and attach it to the bottle so you can open the propane bottle in short bursts and check in a precise area. When the idle raises, you know where your leak is. Carb cleaner can tend to form [very flammable] puddles everywhere on your engine if you use a lot of it.

Identifying vacuum leak. Help please.

Ok guys here's the thing. Today was weird, but I'm not complaining.
I went to school on the white e30. My father insisted I drove his car to school and he would drive the black e30 ( w/ the vacuum leak ). To peerless.... the car is still drivable, but barely. It cranks...... but you need to keep the gas pedal in or else the rpms drop to much and it shuts off.
So anyways my dad procrastinated and he calls me to inform he is going to the mechanic after I leave school.... so w/e at this point I'll meet up with him. I get there after he does, 5 or 10 minutes maybe. I'm trying to talk to my dad and we have a 5 minute conversation or so...... but there is too much noise from the shop.... still could hear him though..... so at one point he tells me that the car hates mechanics, because the car is running just fine now.... it ran fine from his work all the way to the mechanic.
I didnt believe him and I went in the car to crank it..... then I realised the car was on already...... it'd been on since I got there and it idled perfectly...... at 650rpms..... but stable.
I drove it the whole day today and it still drives perfectly fine...... maybe the new intake boot needed some time to settle or something? I dunno :?:
Thing is that it's working fine now and it made my day. Now I can get ready for the winterblaze. Tomorrow during school I am leaving my car at the mechanic for a check-up to see if it's ready for a road trip and saturday I'll be on my way!
Thanks for everyone that helped.
