exhaust mani won't sex with the head

My exhaust manifold simply will not bolt on all the way after getting a new head. Like it's not that the gasket is leaking, I just can't, even after breaking some studs and replacing with bolts, get it to sit flush against the head. Any tips?

Are the exhaust manifolds disconnected from the down pipe? If they are it should be trivial to attach the manifolds to the head. If they aren't, the exhaust may have shifted when you pulled the head. The fix for that will be to remove the exhaust and put everything back together starting at the head.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Got it. There was a really thin awkward small piece of exhaust gasket on the stud that i didn't catch before...such a dumb mistake.
