Coolant passages

WOW, the coolant lines run all over this damn engine....

M10 1.8L

I am leaving the houseing with the two spouts on it.

Question)Can I take the line of the back of the head and put in my aftermarket temp guage there? then block the one on the side of the block near the starter and block of the small one coming off the waterpump?? (doing away with the coolant tube that runs down the side of the engine and feeds warmer tubes to the intake)
