Harmonic Balancer .vs Flywheel. Any tips?

My harmonic balancer vibrates like a mad man which leads me to believe that either it's going bad (no visible cracks on it) or flywheel is out of balance.

Is there any tips to figure out which one is it? I'm planning on replacing it this weekend or next but rather not take out my radiator/etc if it's a flywheel issue.

I doubt that the flywheel is the cause of the vibration of the harmonic balancer. That sounds like a failing or bent balancer. But check the six bolts that hold it on to be sure they are tight.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Dennis King from JBRacing thinks the same. Will see, hopefully it is the balancer.

      Thanks!

what engine is it? I have my M10 apart, and there is only a pully on the front, is the pully balanced? or what?? I didnt see any regular type of balancer with a bit of rubber to dampen the engine. not to thread jack, it just flows with this one.

I'm not sure about your engine, it's same big pulley that crank position sensor should be reading.

Either way, balancer was wrong and on top of that was missing 2 bolts for the mount. If you want to test yours, take off your belt, start your car and observe all the pulleys.

          Balancer should remain 100% even.
