    door jam switches....two different kinds?

I have a 90 325is which had bad door jam switches (for the interior lights) so I bought a set off a member which he said came off an 89 325i. I pulled mine out and they have 2 contacts and 2 wires attached while the ones he sold me have only 1 contact and he said his only had 1 wire attached. Advice?

I know some cars have a relay attached, my car did not but it did have 2 contacts, my guess is that the one he sent you just uses the chassis as a ground. If all else fails hook up the one wire and see if it works.

My driver's door uses the 2 post switch (90 325i 4 door) and my rear doors have a 1 post switch. I had some trouble finding a replacement for mine since the other cars I looked at only used the 1 post - an ix and a 2 door model.

I'd keep looking, I found trying to make a 1 post switch work is far too much work for this little part.
