Micro switch for the vert roof

I had my hard top on over winter and when I put the rear defrost on I didn't get the lines in the roof working but the defroster fan came on instead. I was told there is a micro switch somewhere. I removed the roof and lifted the soft top cover to see. On the left I saw a micro switch. is that it?

Hi Dave, I was suspecting you would eventually answer my question. (Grin)
thanks for confirming. I think it's not working as the fan stays on with the defrost switch pushed in and the hard top on.

wonder if someone on here would have one?

Interestingly, I found that switch only turns the fan off, the hardtop posts should get power either way.

Still sounds like yours is dead though, at least it failed in the on position.

o i c; so it's stuck in the "on" position. has nothing to really do with the roof def working or not. I get what you are saying.. two independent issues.

I noticed that when the soft top goes up it releases the micro switch which would "enable" it to work. When the roof goes back down into the lid this "disables it." which makes sense that if there is no roof why defrost? lol. So my switch is probably done for and therefore the fan is getting constant power. I have a spare car and tested that one and the switch didn't work at all. I wonder if these are common for dying? hmmm....I wonder if another switch, say for the window can work as a substitute? I think they are the same.

The roof however, should be getting power from the post locks; is this right? kinda works like a reverse ground sorta? The contacts seem fine. Unless there is a fuse that works this independently? I mean how difficult is this set up? roof grounds to body?

Here is another question; I see two relays on the rear blower fan; would these also have anything to do with this problem?

thanks again for your time and help.
