loose lugs

What would cause the rear left lug bolts to become loose during normal everyday driving. No matter how hard you tighten them they will become loose. This is my friends car and we havent had time to put it up on stands but wiht the wheel on the whole thing just moves around to much. any ideas.

threads are stripped on either the nut or the hub, you probably over tighend them, pull the nut out re tap the threads to get all the old metal out of there and put a new lug in if it still doesn't tighten you need to drill it out tap it and heli coil it.

You don't helicoil something as critical as a lug bolt threads.

Just put a new hub in...
