Instructrion of how to remove dash, Hvac, heater face plate etc

I know there is a post out there that was made some time back. And someone mentioned to me since the information was somewhat sketchy, that I should do it. So...here I am going to detail the removal. Please feel free to edit as I am sure I missed some stuff.
There are some detailed steps missing for some removal of the screws and sizes etc.

I know there are ways of going about this, but will post the sequence in which I did it.

    1. remove under dash leg panel - pretty straight forward
    2. remove the screws holding the dash pod in - I'm suremost people know how.
Tilt the pod from top down to pull it forward and unclip the 3 plugs, cruise plug and two wired bulbs - slide out to the right.
    3. remove rear/front center console; remove the shifter cover screws; remove plastic nut holding the front console down - one bolt, hiding underneath to the right of the ash tray. remove ash tray, remove the two plastic plugs keeping the console secured at the very front near foot well. Pull the console back towards you and remove.
    4. radio/heater control face plate: first remove the radio. Remove the emerg flasher and rear defog. Two small black screws above the flasher/defog switch. Where the heater fan speed dial is –below that reach under the dash with two fingers and find the Phillips head screws and unscrew 2 screws one behind the dial and the other behind the temp dial. Remove the face plate for the heater sliders by first removing the 3 heater buttoms. Small screw driver should pry it back to expose 4 phillips head screws and remove those. Reach behind and disconnect the heater control dial plug and any remaining plugs which yet have not been disconnected. Remove the face from the car.
    5. Remove the dash board:
Two 10mm bolts under the dash on the left and right side holding the dash to the body
Remove the bolts holding the ABS control unit
Drop the glove box and remove the DME from the body by removing the 4 bolts
Remove any plastic trim that surrounds the glove box
Snip any wire loom connectors holding the wiring to the underside of the dash
The dash fits snug so you may have to wiggle it around a bit to free it before removing. The heater ducts may be holding the dash as well so some finesse is required. I found removing the dash from the passenger side first easier and then lifting and pulling the drivers side away from the body
Be careful not to damage the dash corners or front edge as they get brittle after age.
Leaving the glove box in is optional as it isn’t required to remove to get the dash out.

    6. Heater box (HVAC):
Remove the 4 nuts holding the metal bar which runs from the upper left underdash over the steering column to the left front of the heater box – inside car
Remove the heater core and piping; (left side of box) remove the two a/c lines from the expansion valve.(right side of box) remember to unclamp the two hoses coming into the engine bay from the heater core
Remove the engine bay firewall cover to the heater blower unit 4x7mm bolts; 2 - 9mm plastic nuts and 2 phil screws. Located along the fire wall outside.
Remove the plastic heater fan cover by un strapping the white clips. Remove the metal strap holding the heater blower – remove the blower fan.
Remove the 4 10mm nuts holding the heater box in from above. Remove the 4 metal clips holding the top of the heater blower fan housing down.
Pull the heater box forward from the inside of the car. Free the box from the 2 rubber heater core drains. The heater box should come loose and enable you to pull it out.
    7. optional; remove carpet if it is nice...NOT that easy mind you. Found out I needed to still cut the carpet at the top of the steering column shaft to get it by there. Then I wrestled with it to get it out like I was wrestling an alligator. Don’t be surprised if the underlay is saturated with engine coolant.

Estimated time for removal: 3 hours if you are hustling in the cold like I was..LOL.

thanks, I recall now seeing that at some point. But the HVAC wasn't mentioned or detailed as such. that is a great description however given.

      appreciate it.

Nice write up man! I went at this with a wrench in one hand and hopes and dreams in the other and it took me the better part of an evening.
