    Toe suspension questionn

Sorry about the double post, posted in wrong section. Anyway, how bad is the toe in with H&R race springs. I currently have H&R sports in the front and KYB springs in the rear of my 89 325i and the toe seems to be eating my tires to fast in the rear for daily driving! I am thinking of just going with H&R race springs front and rear as long as the toe in wont be to much to daily drive.

Option number two is just replace the kyb's with H&R sports to match the front. I plan on purchasing from tuner motorsports they are offering 10 percent off this month! going to buy 4 Bilstein sport shocks as well!

    Thanks.

When you lower a car you gain camber and toe will change. On an E30 that has no adjustments for the rear suspensions at all and only the ability to adjust toe on the front, that will result in increased tire wear. There is a fix for that. Camber plates can be used for the front wheels and weld-in camber & toe adjusters can fix the rear alignment.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

this comment is not from first hand experience rather from a lot of reading for myself since i will be lowering my car soon.

excessive to can be from worn bushings. if they are worn change your bushings. theres a diagram and some calculations on toe and camber change in relation to the height of the car. according to the graphs even at a 3inch drop in the rear the toe change will only be 1/16 inch. if its more than that its probably that your bushings are a worn. ive been looking into this extensively because i was debating getting the weld in correction plates but ive opted not to do so. 1/16inch from what i understand is desirable toe for the rear and for the front 0 to 1/16inch.

      read this.

there is also another solution of using shorter bushings in the rear subframe to sit closer to the body of the car in effect changing the geometry slightly to keep the camber and toe closer to stock when lowering.

Worn bushings..probably worn control arm bushings correct? I just went outside to take a look and cant get enough of me under the car to see them. This weekend i will jack the car up to take a look. Thanks!

Tony, I agree with what you have said, except the part about "1/16inch from what i understand is desirable toe for the rear". That really depends on what you're doing with the car.

H&R race springs will give you more negative camber and that will result in more inner tire wear. You can adjust toe however you like, but you'll still be riding on the inner edge of your tire. The only true correction is to get camber plates up front and the toe/camber adjust kits on back. Of course you will also want to replace any worn parts in the process. I have H&R race's and I'm getting ready to put in the IE rear toe/camber kits to correct the rear camber and toe. I will also be replacing all other wear items in the rear.
