    cluster questions

I have an 85 eta. the motometer cluster board burned out an I need a new one. I have a cluster with a coding plug in the rear. I was under the impression that this would be from a post 86 car, yet here it is in my dash. Is this possibly the wrong cluster? everythimg but the obc worked fine ( I think). so really 2 questions here

    1. if this is the wrong cluster, what goes in there? currently a white back coding plug cluster.

    2. does any motometer board fit this cluster? I have an extra blue back one, but it uses a coding chip on the front and is from an i.

The coding plug is in the front, not the back. I know there is a stamp on the back that says 'coding' but that's not the coding plug itself. You still don't have one.

You'll have to get the board from another early eta or you can swap complete clusters from an 86 or 87 eta.

Common sense- It's the new 'gifted'

well, there is a coding plug in back. it is black and like a rod. has numbers on the very tip that you can see if you look very careful at your economy meter on the right side. I just got a cluster from an 85 318 for $13 with warranty. it had a different plug in it, and I swapped it. now not only does everything work without burning, but my obc magically works! good day!
