    Cam adjusting

I saw in the tech forum that i can adjust my intake cam 5 degrees advanced and it will run a little more. I wanna know is it worth having it done with nothing else done to the car? I am prbly going to get the dynomax super turbo muffler and the dynomax super converter because i bought my car and it had no cat with the factory muffler(sounded like ass) but thats my question........Please help im going to the shop to see if i can get it done cheap in about 2o mins so i can see how much itll cost if they can do it.

only if you have a 91 318. And use the best gas you can like 92 or 93 octane.

It'll make the car feel a little more peppy in the top end. I recomend using a chip with doing this mod to get the most out of it.

5 degrees advance on the intake cam would be rotating the cam clockwise when looking at it from the front of the car, right?

im starting to get kind of angry nobody around me wants to do this for me. I talked for about twenty min with a guy this morning and he said it wasnt worth my time and then told me if he adjusted the cam it would make it hit the valve...............i didnt think until i was out the door that .....of course...........ho win the hell is it gonna hit my valves it supposed to do that but he was talking about messing them up. But i didnt think about it until i left and was about a mile away that hes not adjusting the position up or down but the timing and then i just got pissed off.

It takes about 10 minutes to have the valve cover off.

the timing would make it hit if he did it too much... think about it, the valves would be open longer in the stroke so if the piston was higher then usual when the valve is opne, then its going to ram into the valve. that is IF you do it too much, i believe the slider holes on the adjustable cam gear do not let you move it this far so you dont really have anything to worry about... but it is possible to have the valves hit by adjusting the cam too much, he prolly just doesn't want to figure out 5 degrees rotation on the cam and enjoys the less involving jobs that he can charge lots for.

The cams allow +/- 6 degrees; you won't have valve clash.
