Voltage loss when cranking, no start.. Help!

Here is my situation, scrambling to get the car ready to go to 4ngiefest tomorrow, it had been sitting for a few months. Naturally the battery was in need of a charge, but I had jumped it off and let it run a few times. Now the car will not start at all, I get 12-14 volts at the battery, starter and coil but as soon as I crank it the voltage drops to 6-7v. I thought it was the ground strap so I grounded the engine with some jumper cables, changed out the batteries and nothing changed. I'm thinking it may be the starter but I don't really want to do such a PITA job without making sure it is indeed the problem. Any ideas or suggestions?

12 down to 6 volts on multiple batteries? Are all known and tested good under a load (NOT just voltage)? If so
Check grounds. Not just the engine grounds, All of them. Clean up all connections.

It's doubtful to be an actual part failure. It's probably a battery, ground, positive wire, or a combination of all three.

Did you replace your starter recently or is it the original?
