ECU Identification

Ok, looking to find out which ecu my M10 came with since when I got the car the ECU had been stolen and the PO has no idea which one it was.

Is there anyway I could tell which ECU I need by the VIN, wiring harness plug , or any other means?

It's either a 328 or a 310; i'm not sure. Somebody will chime in and help you out.

BTW, I have both so when you find out I'll sell one to you if you need it.

How are you sure that it is the 310 and not the 328? just wondering for future reference.

Anyone else have any way to distinguish which ecu a car came with, are they interchangable?
