Broke my wires, now my motor sounds like shit

So yesterday Beemerfanatick and I were performing a standard timing belt, water pump, and tune up. Everything went smoothly minus one little setback. Somewhere along the line a part of my spark plug wire set broke off. The part is not one of the main plug wires, but rather a littler wire that comes off I think its the 6th plug wire. This wire comes off a circular nub of the 6th plug wire. Now when we fired the car up it sounded awful and by fooling with the wire it seemed to get better. It sounds as if there the car needs a serious valve adjustment, but the problem seems to get better as the revs get higher. Is this the only problem, or should I be worried. I researched the topic in conjuntion with Fanatick and Im pretty sure this is it, but I want to check. Thanks for the help guys

Yes that is a problem without, the ecu won't know when the #6 plug is firing and there for dosn't have an idea where the engine is in it's rotation to determine the timing and fuel injector pulses.

Solved! It was the sensor wire. Just a note for anyone else searching and finding this - replace it, you'll feel a lot better knowing the timing is fine!
