Help identifying plugs

I am new to e30's and just purchased this 85 325e. I was plundering under the hood and found these 2 plugs mounted to the valve cover that looked pretty rough. I basically touched them and they crumbled. I would really like to check my service manual to confirm they are pinned correctly but i dont know what they are called :facepalm: any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those are for the crank reference sensors.

is this a common problem on the early models? I noticed on the later models the plugs were moved away from the valave cover

Yes fairly common.

Later models do not have the same style sensor setup.
