Aux Fan Resistor

Can someone tell me how to wire an Aux Fan Resistor? While troubleshooting some cooling issues I noticed that I don't have one. What I have is three open wires where it should be - two small red wires and one larger black wire.

I have a new fan resistor on order, but it appears to only have two terminals on the back and I have three leads. Anyone know how to wire this (or better yet have a picture of one that's wired)?
