Is there a DIY for convertible top electric-to-manual conversion?

Is there one at R3V, or a link to one out there on the 'net?

      I second this...and maybe 3rd?

Can it be as simple as just unbolting all the monkey motion and installing a spring to hold the bonnet down?

Here's the parts you will need:

        Parts required; 1-16 except 3 and 5,

        and 5-8.

You will also need to find a donor car to get the two lower gas spring mounts and the safety catch on the cover. The spot welds will need to be drilled out to remove them. They can be attached with blind rivets.

I just did it to mine. It Is very straight forward. I found a parts car and got everything I need frrom it. The shocks were shot so I bought new ones from bavauto. The only thing you will not have is the safety catch (it is not part of the EM lid). You can rig something up or just don't have one. I bought a manual lid, drilled out the spot welds holding on the catch and bolted to my lid. You could also just replace the lid, it was the wrong color so I just added the catch to mine. The catch is not shown in the above figures of Stevie30, but it is what the safety latch (2) latches on to.
