    Steering wheel locked

For some reason, I can't turn the car on, because the key will not turn. And steering wheel is locked up and I cannot wiggle it to turn the ignition.... any suggestions?

Use one arm to move the wheel back and forth, and the other to jiggle the key. Patience - it'll work.

no, but I don't see how that would help....

And Beemerfanatik, wiggling the steering wheel is not working. I tried for quite a while with no luck. It's weird because I've never had any problems starting the car up, and one day, I park the car, go back to turn the car back on, and the steering wheel is locked up & ignition won't turn. :?

Jacking the car up would free the front wheels - therefore taking any resistance off the steering rack. If the jiggle key/wheel method isn't working - that's the next thing I'd do. Worth a try - you lose what, 5 minutes if it doesn't work?

No he never found an answer and the car had to be totalled.

Try holding the wheel as far as you can one way while jiggling the key.

I have tried both my regular and my spare key, both to no avail.
