How many times have you copied a file and it was corrupted somehow along the way?
If that were the case then the chip would not work period once you put it in and that would apply to every chip manufacturer.
Not neccesarily. Paets of an eeprom can be messed up and still work as a whole.

Do you really think that every Dinan and JC ship is hand programmed before it's sent out?
Not at all, but if a Dinan or JC chips fucks up my car, then they'll sure as hell replace whatever broke.

Like I said before, give my a name brand chip and my bud can create a perfect copy for $5-$10 within mins.
The real point of this thread was will your 'bud' or people like him stand behind his work? I'm not saying a cloned chip is not going to be as good as a legit one, but more that it is a risk involved unlike what some people think. If it's worth the risk, that's up to you.

Ritalin Kid, you're completely missing the point of your own thread. You're asking about chips sold on E-Bay by random people, yet you continue to make the argument that a chip can be copied in minutes by your friend (like we care, but anyway). That has nothing to do with the topic. On E-Bay you don't know anything about the origins of the software, whether it was completely home-brewed, a legitimate chip copied then "upgraded" through dangerous advance timing, or any other scenario.

After all is said and done, you asked a question but you already seem to know all of the answers for it. So go ahead, buy a mystery chip and enjoy it.

Give me an example of one person who has blown up their engine with serioulsy advanced timing caused by an eBay chip and I MIGHT consider you comment.

In all honestly I believe the risk is very minimal.. people who purchase items on the net are pretty good about letting others know when a product is a POS and considering how long these chips have been on Ebay and not a thread can be found online about them fucking up an engine says alot.

The only chip problems I've been able to find are all people who installed them backwards regardless of manufacturer.

If you're so sure of all of this, then why bother making a thread?

More interested in their performance and I was sure if someone had a bad experience with one of these chips they would come forward with some kind of complaint or warning or maybe even a friend of a friend story.

I paid $40 for a panther chip over a year ago. The seller and I ,emailed back and forth.I was convinced the chip was good.
Installed it a few months back and it works Great!
I only paid $900 for my car, A great deal.
$250+ for a chip, was not even an option.
This chip is exactly the same. The parameters are changed,a little, just to make it differant.
Anybody who says they are not the same , that they can ruin your engine, don't understand how computers work. These Panther chips are just fine.

Supabimma is 100% right. they are the real deal and they definitely make comparable power if not exactly the same amount of power as other chips. Supabimma knows his stuff, he's been in the E36 world for a long time and knows bmws better than most.
