    Automatic 84 325E Problem

In theory or in experince why would the car at idle (park / neutral) the car will rev over 2k rpm. While in motion ( D / 1 / 2 ) the car acts like it is hitting a rev limiter, it simply won't go any faster.

Bentley says that my car 325E doesn't have the sensors like a 325 or 325i has (Speed sensors that could do this?). It doesn't list this symptom or not related enough for me to undertsand what could be wrong. I thought it may be it won't go into 2nd gear but I've eliminated that. Car is running very will except for when I went across the street into a parking lot it just will not go over 2k RPM.

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

    TIA.

      bump

Any ideas to look for something would be great.
I'm still at a loss, I don't exactly want to tear apart an auto tranny.

Bentley says my car doesn't have the sensors that others do the speed sensors... said something about the 325E being the only one that didn't have those sensors.

However today I was under there and saw two sensors going into the tranny, secure and not damaged. Then I noticed a small line much above those two sensors not fully threaded onto where it was. Tommorrow after work it will be first thing I'll do. The tranny oil I flushed out and probably didn't help lengthen the life of the tranny it was pretty gritty.

I'll check back tommorrow, was doing other work on other cars non stop till now need a rest.

dont say it is the problem, it could be the problem. you could have just sent him to buy somthing that he doesn't need. thats is many other things it could be other then a clogged converter.

                is the car gutless?

There is no way I'd buy an exhaust when I have one sitting that for a fact I was going to put on anyways because it is in great shape. It does make some sense though, the car has the worst OEM exhaust I've ever seen.

                  No, why?
