325i air mixture adjustment

can someone just confirm that the alan-key adjuster for the air mixture, on the AFM only affects the mixture during idle.

if it is turned clockwise, does that make it run richer or leaner?

clockwise - leaner

Don't mess with it unless you have an exhaust gas mixture analyzer. It affects the mixture at all times but it only really counts at idle because the amount of air it lets through is minimal.
