    AC Idle Question

Hi everyone, I have a 88 is just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. The car doesn't idle real good, ok just not as smooth as I would like. So today I turned on the AC and guess what, the car idled like butter, turned AC off and idle turned back to so so, what the heck is this all about, thanks.

That's because the AC switch tells the ECU to bump up the idle. Your car should run at 700Rpm at idle with AC off, with AC on, it should run at 1,000. You have some kind of issue causing your bad idle...

check all the vacuum lines and replace some gaskets. check your intake boot for cracks, replace air filter, spark plugs, wires, fuel hoses etc....search rough idle and you'll find the motherloads of info

        AC idle

Thanks for the info I did have a smoke test done, no leaks found they hooked up there code reader and no codes were stored. New plugs, rotor, all new rebuilt injectors, new timing belt, water pump, tensioner etc. The only thing I havent done is new plug wires I'll give that a try next, thanks again.
