    Coolant problem

Last weekend I came back from a tournament in oceanside so I hadn't driven my car for like a day. A few days before the tournament I had put in coolant and like a day later it said it was low again. So I put a little more in and didn't really worry about it because I was going to look at it when I came back from the tournament. When I came back and drove it it was overheating and making weird noises when i would idle. I stopped driving the car this whole week and just replaced one of the coolant hoses that I thought was creating the problem. But nothing has changed, it still overheats and now im afraid that I have messed up the engine driving it when it was low on coolant. What other possibilities could it be. My friend said there may be air in the system thats making it overheat or you overheated it pretty bad and messed up the engine.
Thank you for your time and reading this, help if possible and have a good day.

Air in the system would cause the car to randomly overheat, not lose coolant.

You have a leak somewhere so start looking. It shouldn't be that hard, the stuff doesn't evaporate (well not for a longgg time). Check your carpet around the driver side floor area - when I start losing a tiny bit of coolant I thought it was nothing, then I looked under my rubber winter mats and ta da - that's where the missing coolant went (leaky heater core plumbing).

Your engine should be fine as long as you didn't overheat it.

            Depends. Ranges from 150-250+

My coolant light stays on even when i have full coolant in there ( does not leak.) I think it is my sensor.

In your case it is your sensor. Fairly common, and inexpensive.

OP - Start looking for leaks. Also, I'd check your coolant bottle and dipstick for coolant/oil mixture.

Does the car smoke at all while running?
