I think I fixed my ac compressor

It wasn't pulling in far enough to engage. I checked resistance at 4.9 ohms so only 2.5 amps (on a 7.5 amp circuit.) So I removed the outer part of the clutch and removed all three "shims" from around the center. I reassembled and now it holds tight when I apply 12v from the battery. I put it all back and now I await a charge. But were those shims?

I can only post the "shims" i took out. They looks like different thicknesses.

The only thing that would concern me is does the compressor "freewheel" properly when it's not engaged?

Yea they are def shims and are lost in my driveway somewhere. They were all different thickness adding up to about 2mm. It wasn't working before so if it screws up it won't matter.

Looks like its been working fine for a week now. Its nice having AC when you're stuck on the GW or if its pouring out.
