    fuel cooler

On my cabrio I have the OEM fuel cooler thingy that goes around the low side AC hose. Problem is, that the pipes that go around the firewall not only look like shit, but are in the way of getting the cover off on the blower motor.

How many of you guys have totally removed this thing, and if you did, are you now getting vapor lock issues.

Is this thing truly needed, or is it just optional crap?

I know some sausage eating Bavarian probably thought it was a good idea, but how needed is it on the I motors (dont have one on my Eta)

The fuel cooler option was not based on eta or i cars, it was fitted to cars destined for hotter climates. I have 2 87is cars one has the system one doesn't. Our 24 hours of lemons car which is an 87e had the system, it was removed without issue.

    Hope that helps

I never understood why that configuration was used on some E30's. It is almost impossible to have a vapor lock in a pressurized flow through fuel injection system. The pressure alone will prevent vapor lock and the constant flow once the engine starts turning would flush out a vapor bubble with cool fuel.

Just take the darn thing out.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Our LeMons car had it too! Haha

We solved the problem with a barbed brass fitting and a pair of hose clamps.
