    aux fan and info question

i noticed a while ago that my fan (infront of the rad) is seized, my dad and i both tried to get it to budge but the most we got it to move was probably half inch in both directions....no i'm wondering, since my ac doesn't work and it will be a bitch to take this fan out, is it alright to leave it in? does it help cool the motor at any points or is it just for the ac???
cause lately after about 5-10 of idling in hot weather my temp starts to climb. i already got my fan clutch replaced. i'm thinking it could be the thermostat which i want to replace next and if it's not that then i want to get the timing belt and water pump changed.
    any insight on this?
    thanks

The temp sensor on the side of the radiator triggers that fan to come on at some points above half on the gauge. I forget exatly what degrees, but it does serve that fucntion as a helper if the fan clutch goes out.

not if its siezed zimmie, it should be able to turn freely.

You can jump the temp sensor to turn on the fan to check to see if its working.

The aux fan has a low speed and high speed. It comes on when needed as a safety, so the car doesn't overheat

Also, if your thermostat was stuck closed you'd be overheating ALL the time. Your temp problem lies in the aux fan.

                  Yes it's the same.

But for all of us, if your cooling system is tip-top, the aux fan will never come on anyway. It's only a last resort, it doesnt come on until about 3/4 on the gauge.

I'm telling you the thermostat is working fine, if anything you need a lower temp one.
