Hot Start Problems , Anyone ?

When the temperature outside gets hot , my car wont start sometimes .. Anyone might have any idea what it is ?

The most common cause of starting problems are intake leaks. Other possibilities exist, but rule out intake leaks by having a smoke test run first.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I have had that before on my old 325e.

Not sure what it was exactly, but it stopped after I replaced both fuel pumps and the ignition coil.

My bet was it was the coil though.

Could be many other things though too. Refer to your Bentley manual.

Can we just get a sticky at the top of this forum with the Jlevie smoke test statement so you don't have to type it in on every single thread in the m20 sub forum. ;)

Also, I hardly believe the majority of the DIY e30 owners on this site are going to take their car to a place to preform a, "smoke test" in the first place, let's just be honest.

That should be the sticky in every forum that deals with engines that have electronic fuel injection. All the good pros I know do this as the first action for any car they work on that is brought in for anything related to an engine management system problem. And on newer BMW's they will also run a crankcase pressure check (diagnostic for a failed CCV).

Sadly, that is all too true. They'd rather spend a buch of money replacing parts that don't need to be replaced in lieu of having a smoke test run.

This happened to me the other day on my S50 e30 and was very frustrating. I think it might have something to do with the starter. It might be time to change my fuel pumps though...

I'm pretty sure it's not the intake . because it wont even turn over when i turn the key . I'm going to try replacing the coil , hopefully that's the problem . right now in cali , it's a problem - i can't take my car anywhere - i have the possibility of it not starting again and getting stuck.
