    convert r12 to r134

Kinda new to r12 a/c but is it ok to use r12 mineral oil with r134 freon?? Or should I just dump the mineral oil and put pag 150??

    I know my 1991 318is r12 compressor is compatible with r134.

    No.

If you're doing a simple conversion, use ester oil. Only use PAG if you are completely flushing out the system.

        that is the one.

You want to use ester because Mineral oil is not compatible with 134a (will pool in the lines, and not circulate) and the PAG oil is incompatible with Mineral oil. (causes problems, forget what). remember that you will want to swap out the reciever drier (with one that is compatible with 134a, not all are) and also the expansion valve. these parts are considered consumables and are not that expensive (I paid under 50 bucks for both parts) and will help to ensure that your system works to the best of its potential after the conversion
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...
