If its a bigger problem, it's likely you need to just tighten the nut on the back.
nope thats exactly my issue. pretty odd. my e34s works perfectly. maybe needs a little more lube.

This. And pressing the reset button while in motion eventually damages the gears. When you reset your tripmeter, do it at a stop and make sure you lube your new gears. Then they should have a good, long life.

Leaving town for 5 weeks. Will get new gears when I return. Should be a fun job, and easy for me.

I have problems with my speedo and odo also, i have all new gears. My speedo sometimes works for a short bit after I take a hard left turn or go uphill, but odo is totally dead. Any advice or suggestion of what it might be?

I was about to order the gears from Garagistic when I remembered my car has a MotoMeter. Would the gears still work? Otherwise can anyone recommend a similar gear replacement kit for MotoMeters?
              Thanks.
