    I think the Bentley may be wrong.

    One of the posters on another forum I was asking about the problem cited 640 ohms as normal and I just found this thread that seems to back it up. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=274774

      It's pretty tough to test an intermittently failing electrical component because you wouldn't get a bad test out of it unless it was currently failing.

      I suppose if you wanted to get real fucking nerdy you could back probe the CPS connector with an analog multimeter set to AC volts, run the leads out from under the hood and stick it underneath your wiper arm. If the car died at the same instant the needle lost AC signal you'd know for sure, although it'd still be tough to tell if you lost signal because the sensor failed or because the tone ring on the crank pulley quit spinning.
