    E30 325e Welch Plugs

    Hey all,

First post here.. sorry for a help question straight up, will post up my daily hack and what the plans are for that shortly. Just trying to fix niggling issues before ripping open the mods.

Got an 86' 325e. Changed water pump out on Friday/Saturday thinking that's where the coolant was spewing out of... only to put it back together and get slapped down with the leak still there.
Pulled it apart again and noticed the welch plug was religious. Rusted through little hole from extended use of water I'd guess instead of proper coolant.

Anyway, tried numerous sizes that were available from local parts places on hand.
    30mm too small, 34mm too big. Tried Imp size 1 1/4", and 1 7/32"
1 1/4 was too small.. went in, but way too easy and I wasn't prepared to leave it and see if it worked.

So... local parts dudes (here in Australia) seem to only stock 30 or 34mm... nothign in between.. they have to order special.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer on what size I am supposed to be using for my engine? it's the stock M20 2.7l bottom end with the 325e head on it (the crap one)... I just need to get it running so I can drive it daily for another couple weeks till the re-built 323 head etc gets here.

    Please help. :)

    Cheers.

    Thanks.

It's a 32mm welch plug for front and back of the cylinder head.

45mm for side of the block.

    Cheers.
